SmartVote is at the 2025 Copenhagen Democracy Summit Defending Democratic Values
We’re excited to announce that SmartVote is being presented at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit! Fundación Cibervoluntarios, as coordinators of SmartVote, have travelled to Copenhaguen to present our initiative to empower journalists, media professionals and volunteers to fight disinformation during election periods. This unique opportunity to meet and share our project with democracy activists and policymarkers from around the world provides us with a powerful platform to officially launch our project.
SmartVote is being featured in the Alliance of Democracies Foundation impact corner, alongside other projects dedicated to the promotion of healthy democracies. SmartVote is being supported as an Impact Project by the Tech for Democracy Impact Accelerator (TDIA), a new initiative by the Alliance of Democracies Foundation. TDIA supports selected European non-profit and social enterprise projects using advanced technology to address contemporary democratic challenges.

Embodying this objective, SmartVote is supporting voter education in Spain and Portugal by creating digital media literacy training for young people and journalists. The project is also developing and disseminating SmartVote, an AI-powered tool that identifies disinformation patterns and promotes critical thinking.
The community created among the Impact Projects has the potential to bring about stronger European democracies and scalable solutions to the issues democracies are currently facing. SmartVote understands the threat disinformation poses to our democracies. Our consortium, representing academia, civil society, and media, is researching the ways disinformation is created and spread, as well as how to best prepare social media users to identify it.
Keep up with SmartVote to read our latest research on disinformation, discover upcoming events and engage with us!
